More about MTRF and the new home of Centre for Integrative Medicine (CIM) at the
University of Toronto is now responsible for the Massage Therapy Research Fund (MTRF) and managing the
funding competition.

The MTRF provides grants for massage therapy research through an annual national-level research competition. The competition is open to qualified researchers at research institutions across Canada. Since its inception in 2004, the Massage Therapy Research Fund has disbursed through this annual MTRF competition for grants Canada wide.

With IN-CAM’s involvement, the goal is for the fund to continue supporting the growing area of massage therapy research in Canada.

Purpose and goals of the MTRF:

The purpose of the MTRF is to fund high quality research in the field of massage therapy to support evidence-based practice of massage therapy.

The goals of the MTRF are to support research that contributes to our understanding of the effectiveness of massage therapy, its integration into health care provision, and the development of the massage therapy profession. A secondary goal is to increase research knowledge and capacity among massage therapists through their engagement in research practices at all levels.

The MTRF aims to assist collaboration between the scientific and massage communities in developing well-designed research projects that will contribute to the evidence-based practice of massage therapy.

Annual Funding Competition and Grant Administration:

The grants through the MTRF will be determined through an annual funding competition. The MTRF competition is open to all eligible applicants in Canada. All grant applications submitted to the Centre for Integrative Medicine (CIM) at the
University of Toronto is now responsible for the Massage Therapy Research Fund (MTRF) and managing the
funding competition by the indicated deadline will be considered.

In partnership with the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario (CMTO), IN-CAM is the new administrator of the Massage Therapy Research Fund (MTRF). Centre for Integrative Medicine (CIM) at the University of Toronto is now responsible for the Massage Therapy Research Fund (MTRF) and managing the funding competition.

The Massage Therapy Research Fund is funded by the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario (CMTO).
